25 of 25 people found the following review helpful Awesome item - here's what you need to know!, January 12, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sony BDP-CX960 400-Disc Blu-Ray Disc Changer (Electronics) We got one of these to save space in our home as the DVD racks were getting on my nerves.
Other than the player you need:
- 1GB or better USB flash drive (around $10-15 usually).
- Ethernet cable to connect to internet to download movie titles and cover art to machine.
- HDMI cable highly recommended for better quality (but it does come with the red/white/yellow cables).
Most importantly you will need an entertainment unit BIG enough to house this. We have an IKEA one that it just fits on - width wise is fine, but it's the depth that is larger than most items.
So, take it out of the box, hook up the cable to the TV, the one to the internet router, put in the USB flash drive (even if you hardly ever use it, it's easier to put it in NOW, than have to move the thing out later to put in the flash drive as it goes in the back), hook up your sound system (optional), then plug it in.
There is an "easy set up" feature and once you do... Read more
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Good solution to your Blu-ray changer needs, May 1, 2011 By IDS "Ian" (Howard, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony BDP-CX960 400-Disc Blu-Ray Disc Changer (Electronics) Got this player to give me access to my Blu-ray collection remotely around the house through a HDMI to Cat6 distribution system. The player sits in the basement in the home theater. I had considered ripping my Blu-rays to a hard drive but the size of memory required for even a modestly sized collection and, at this time, the inability to stream lossless audio made my choice clear. A Blu-ray changer was the way to go.
Player works very well with picture and sound on par with my Oppo Blu-ray player. I loaded about 10 discs to start and pulled in their details via Gracenotes. This worked well, taking maybe a minute per disc. I loaded the remainder and let it run overnight. Only one disc was missing cover art (The Tourist), although it did pull in the title etc. This is a new release at the time of this review, I suspect cover art will be available shortly. One disc was wrongly identified as a duplicate of another disc in the player. Pulled it out and reinserted and the player... Read more
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful DVD Life Made Easy, May 6, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sony BDP-CX960 400-Disc Blu-Ray Disc Changer (Electronics) I love this DVD player. It made one of my big closets empty and added 4 boxes of DVD cases to my stuff in attic space. Finding the right movie is a piece of cake. The unit operation may look first unfriendly, but after a week or so you'll find a lot of short cuts that make easy to operate and navigate the movies. You will like it.
