some problems with playback, December 29, 2011 By a reviewer (Midwest USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Pioneer BDP-140 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black (Electronics) This is the only SACD player I could find that costs below $200. However, it doesn't recognize all of my SACD discs. For example, Kleiber's "Beethoven Symphonies Nos. 5 & 7", a Hybrid-SACD is not recognized as a CD at all, much less a SACD. The player displays an "Unknown Disc" error message. It also froze on a new DVD and I had to power cycle the player. Aside from those two discs, I have not had other problems with the player. The HD images look great and the audio is also good. But Kleiber's is one of my favorite discs, so I have to return the player.

Best mid level 3d player, December 19, 2011 This review is from: Pioneer BDP-140 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black (Electronics) This player plays wide range of audio/video without compromising the quality. If you dont care about internet apps, this player is the best player in its class. I have owned panasonic bd-85 and sony bx-58. So, i am comparing with those.
It has very few connections. I use only hdmi out, so dont care.
I didnt test netflix, and dlna steaming.
Pros:
Excellent bluray quality, both 2d and 3d. Very good DVD upscale quality
No 3d ghosting, bluray or sbs mkvs
Excellent audio quality, bluray/sacd or dvd audio - plays dts hd ma, truehd dts hd hires etc.
Control your player thru wifi using iphone/ipad app icontrolav2
Very good GUI with lots of options
Can connect NTFS external hard drive and usb wireless keyboard (although not specified in the user manual)
Plays almost everything you throw at this thru usb/disc: Flac up to 192hz when renamed to mp3, sacd, dvd-audio, vob, mkvs, m2ts, pal dvds, avi, divx, divx hd, 3d mkvs, avchd etc... Read more
