Sharp BD-HP75U 3D Blu-ray Disc Player Reviews
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Much better than the more expensive Sharp BDs, October 17, 2011 By Robert Clear (Anderson, IN USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sharp BD-HP75U 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics) Owned an older Sharp BD player and generally was happy with it, but decided to upgrade for wireless N and better Netflix integration. Bought a BD-HP80U, and returned it - didn't work with 50% of the discs I played, and Netflix interface was....problematic, at best.
This unit is much better. Plays everything I've tried, loads much faster than my old unit, and Netflix interface works well.

It was to replace an older LG player, whose network access problems became really unbearable.
This Sharp player, unfortunately, manages to be even worse. Possibly because it's at the low end of the product line, it's CPU is woefully underpowered. The interface is really, really slow to respond, and, to make it worse, the UI provides no acknowledgement of clicks on controller buttons. (*edit* sorry, it's not really the "low end of the product line" - I was confused. It's slow no matter what :-)
The player is supposed to have access to DLNA servers on the local network, but that seemed not to work at all (it would do nothing but complain about "not being able to connect to the network" even though I could clearly see it connected on my router, and it could get to Netflix and Youtube.)
The YouTube interface *looks* nicer than my older LG, but as far as I could tell it doesn't work at all. I... Read more
Sharp 3d player, February 17, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sharp BD-HP75U 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics) OK...so I am one of those who is going to be "hooked" on 3d. I read all the reviews and there is so much negative stuff that it seems maybe the best idea is to forget it! But...
I got a new 60" Sharp 3d wi-fi TV and I decided to stick with the Sharp 3d DVD Player. Its a great player, and a great TV.
Forget those negative reviews and get what you think is best - but to be safe buy a warrenty.
Being in my 60's I remember 4-track tapes, RCA "record" movie players and disks, good ol' Beta Max, 8mm movies, and black and white TV...and look where we are now...and imagine where we will be in 5 years!
