Terrible Product, January 30, 2012 By This review is from: Pioneer Elite BDP-43FD 3D Compatible Streaming Blu-Ray Player (Electronics) I've been a long-term fan of Pioneer video products, but I must say I'm extremely disappointed in this one. Despite being part of the Elite line, this device performs quite poorly. Disk loading is painfully slow, as is the UI response. But what really irks me is the machine's extremely poor ability to read disks. The slightest mar on the disk surface is sufficient to make a movie unwatchable. The last straw was last night, when attempting to play a movie whose disk looked quite pristine to me. Disks this machine can't handle work perfectly fine in my $100 Sony player in the bedroom. So much for Elite status.
On-line services (like Netflix) are also poorly implemented. Almost every search I attempt results in a failure, the first few times, at least.
I've updated the firmware to the latest available version, but no improvement in these areas was noted. By the way, this is the second unit I've had, so a manufacturing defect appears unlikely.
