I was also able to play avi files from my thumb drive using the USB connection in the back of the player.
The picture looks great for DVDs and the blurays looks outstanding. I definitely recommend this bluray player for anyone importing movies from around world that never make it to the USA

This means I get a warranty and have less risk of the player not working. I got the player about two months ago and have played both region 1 and region 2 DVDs with no issues. The picture quality is great and the sound is good. I have tried a region A and B blu-ray disc they work great. The remote was easy to figure out and the player was easy to hook up. I can just say that I haven't had any issues so far. I was able to skip, rewind, and fast forward with no issues.
